What I Learned from Managing Social Media for Sukemanis Dessert

During my Semester 3 break, I had the opportunity to work part-time at a local dessert shop called Sukemanis Dessert. One of the most exciting parts of the job was being assigned to manage their social media content, especially for TikTok and Facebook. This was my first real-world experience applying what I had learned in my marketing classes particularly in digital content marketing.

Every day, I created around 9 to 10 copywriting posts for Facebook and brainstormed TikTok content that could capture people’s attention. I quickly learned that consistency and timing were crucial in engaging audiences. Fun captions, clear visuals, and storytelling-style promotions worked best in grabbing attention.

Most importantly, I realized that being a marketer isn’t just about “selling products”, its about building emotional connections with customers through meaningful messages. This experience opened my eyes to the real demands of small business marketing fast-paced, creative, and impact-driven.
